Kate Bennett - Ballet
Kate Bennett has been a ballet dancer and now teacher nearly her entire life. Kate's formal training began at the Princeton Ballet, where she studied until the age of 16 when she moved to Seattle to study and dance with the prestigious Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB). While at PNB Kate performed in numerous ballets including The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Firebird, Carmina Burana, Concerto Borocco, and Swan Lake, to name a few. Kate returned to the east coast to attend the Joffrey Ballet at The New School from which she received her BFA. Kate has been teaching ballet for the past five years while also pursuing an acting career and becoming a certified Pilates instructor.
Cat Cogliandro - Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary
Cat Cogliandro is a native of Houston, Texas and trained under Sheryl Rowland, Rowland's School of Ballet and Kingwood Dance Theatre. She attended SUNY Purchase received her BFA from the Conservatory of Dance. Since graduation, Cat has performed with Emily Bufferd/BEings Dance, John Zullo/John J Zullo Dance, Erick Montes, Malcolm Jason Low, Ferdinand De Jesus, Mondo Morales, Anna Vollmar, Bryn Cohn, Paige Manley, Loni Landon and Nicholas Andre Dance/Nick Ross. She can also be seen in a music video with the Greek artist, Sophia Strati, titled "This Can't Be Love" and was recently a featured dancer in the movie, "This Is My Girlfriend", to be in theaters in the fall. Cat was also a back up dancer for the up and coming artist, Vera Fla$h, in her show "Live at Webster Hall" at Webster Hall. She been very honored to perform on stages such as Alvin Ailey, City Center Studios, Symphony Space, Harlem Stage Theatre, Joyce SoHo and the JCC, as well as the Open Look Dance Festival in Saint Petersburg Russia, Inside/Out at Jacobs Pillow and the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.
Cat was awarded the Monticello Award from Regional Dance America in 2007. In 2008, she was awarded the Choreography Connection Award in which she was commissioned to set a new work on Pennsylvania Regional Ballet in 2009 Her newest piece, "kastro", premiered at the first annual Young Choreographers Festival at Symphony Space, and has performed at The Rover Soho for a three night show entitled "Clearing...Burn the Sage". Cat is on faculty at Danzamericas Costa Rica, and recently spent two weeks teaching master classes.
Danielle Daguman - Pre Dance, Ballet, Jazz
Originally from Southern California, Danielle Daguman studied ballet and jazz at an early age. She soon began crafting her teaching skills by assisting in ballet classes, and developed a passion for instruction that led to her present career. Danielle furthered her training at various summer intensive workshops where she studied ballet, variations, jazz, modern and Hip-Hop. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in dance with a minor in education from the University of California Irvine under the instruction of artists such as Donald McKayle, David Allen and Larry Rosenberg. Fulfilling her life long dream by moving to New York City, she teaches throughout the Tri-State area and was a member of Ameli Dance Theater. Her love and passion for dance exudes in her teaching.
Jessica Epting - Ballet
Jessica Epting's goal is to create and inspire a love for ballet in all of her students while promoting a high standard of excellence. In her classes students learn classical ballet including all the French terminology, and ballet history. Miss J’s students learn that challenging themselves both physically and mentally is one of the many joys of ballet and dance! In 1995, she founded En L’Air Dance Academy in Omaha, where she served as the director and master teacher for six years. She has served as a principal faculty member teaching classical ballet at Omaha Academy of Ballet (Omaha, NE), Metropolitan Ballet Theater (Rockville, MD), Ballet Royale Academy (Columbia, MD), NewDance (Rye, NY), Ballet Hispanico (New York, NY) and The D’Valda and Sirico Dance Centre (Fairfield, CT). She is currently on the teaching staff at The Boden Performing Arts Center (New York, NY).
Chelsea File - Jazz
Chelsea File is a native to New York, and has grown up taking class at Broadway Dance Center. Other training includes Alvin Ailey's Pre-Professional Divison, Complexions Summer Intensive, Musical Theatre Performance Project, Pushing Progress: A Workshop and World Dance Movement. Chelsea has performed at the Step's Choreographer's Lab, Macy's Day Parade, Carnival: New York working with choreographers including Jason Berrent, Josh Bergasse and Rachel Bress. Chelsea is also an aerial and flying trapeze instructor at Trapeze School New York. She looks forward to teaching at Broadway Dance Center for the Children and Teen Program.
Hannah Frederick - Lyrical, Jumps & Turns
Hannah Frederick is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up training intensly at the Dance Shoppe in Plymouth. She was the coach of the state champion, Chaska High School Dance Team. Hannah has been based out of New York City for the past four years. She is an up and coming choreographer and performer, specializing in contemporary, lyrical, technical and stylized jazz. Since moving to New York, she has been studying at the, ever prestigious, Broadway Dance Center in several of their professional programs, including the Intern Scholarship Program. Shortly after interning, Hannah had the privilege of working with Calen Kurka and Chris Hale in their contemporary training program :Pushing Progress.
Hannah has recently performed in several choreographers festivals including Sirens After Dark and Sybarite. Most recently, she performed in the opening gala for Broadway Dance Center's renovation unveiling. Hannah has worked for the renowned company, Just For Kix, for the past 4 years and most recently spent the summer traveling the Mid-west teaching and choreographing. Hannah has taught and choreographed for countless studios, high school dance teams, and college dance teams in New York, New Jersey, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Kansas, and Florida.
As a teacher she thrives off of the energy and passion her students have to offer. She encourages her students to find their love for dance based on their own personal journey. Hannah's goal as a teacher is to inspire others to find their own voice in dance through movement.
Kelsey Fuhrman - Hip-Hop
Kelsey Fuhrman, originally from Faimont Minnesota, moved to NYC to pursue her dance career at the young age of 18. Kelsey has been dancing since she was 5 years old studying the areas of tap, jazz, ballet, musical theatre and hip hop. Kelsey attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy when she first moved out to NYC, she then continued her dancing with her first professional gig as a dance team member of the the NY Titans Dance Team. Her training continued at Broadway Dance Center where she studied as in Intern, soon after that she became an assistant instructor to Derek Mitchell and has been his assistant choreographer for the Knicks City Dancers and Calvin Klein, Kelsey has been seen performing with companies such as KPDC (Kelly Peters Dance Company) Morph Dance Company and UDA (Urban Dance Alliance). She has also performed with the artists Sylvia Tosun, Sasha Now, Rae, Amen-Ra, Ty Glascoe, Excite, and has choreographed for Salena Dabbs. Kelsey has done many Industrials for Macys such as Material Girl, Kipling and American Rag. She now teaches an many studios around the area including Broadway Dance Center.
Kevin Glasford - Hip-Hop
Born and raised in the South Bronx, Kevin Glasford was heavily entertained by the artistry of dance. He grew up watching many icons such as Usher, Omarion, Wade Robson, Ne-yo, Chris Brown, and the greatest of them all, Janet and Michael Jackson.
During his senior year at Cardinal Hayes High School, Kevin lost his mother and was in need of a positive outlet. After meeting a friend who was also a dancer, Kevin found his new inspiration that would send his entire focus into the world of dance.
Broadway Dance Center has been the main studio where Kevin received most of his training. However, other sources such as Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory, Steps On Broadway, Lehman College, and Downtown Dance Factory have been great contributors to his dance education.
Outside of performing, lighting and theater work have taken Kevin's interest. He also has a strong love for becoming a DJ. He's always had a love for sketching, poetry, singing, playing the drums at his church, and his new found love for fitness training.
Rhapsody James, Lyle Beniga, Neil Schwartz, Ryan Davis, Luam, Valentine Norton, Candance Brown are just a few choreographers/dancers that have inspired Kevin's dance career. Others include Alonzo Williams, Aurelia Michael, Ronald Coleman, La Jon Dantzler, Ryan Miller, Brian Puspos, Bam Martin and Maurice Dean.

Jamie Jackson - Hip-Hop
Jamie Jackson is a New York native, born and raised in Brooklyn. He has been dancing since the age of 5 and got his break as a choreographer at the age of 11 when he did some work for the block-party in his neighborhood. However, while following his dream to be a choreographer, Jamie took a good detour singing in the Grammy Award wining LFT Church Choir under the direction of Hezekiah Walker. While in the choir Jamie had the opportunity to work with artists such as Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Praz of the Fugees, Shirley Caesar, and P. Diddy.
Natalie Malotke - Triple Threat
Natalie Malotke is a choreographer, director, producer at N+N Productions and teaching artist. Currently she is the resident director/choreographer for the Nickelodeon Program on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Recently in New York, Natalie has assisted Susan Stroman's team on workshops of LITTLE DANCER. Theatrically, she has directed and choreographed regionally including work as the associate director/choreo on ARNIE THE DOUGHNUT at NYMF 2012, co-director/choreographer of BIG EXCELLENT 20TH REUNION (Off-Broadway, Theatre 80), STATE FAIR at The Wagon Wheel Theatre, THE WEDDING SINGER at The Janesville Armory, and asst. dir/asst. chor on the American Premiere of JERRY SPRINGER: THE OPERA at the Bailiwick Theatre in Chicago. She has taught at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, The Actor's Center, MTCA and Rosie's Theatre Kids. Through her career in New York she has worked as a talent agent, casting assitant and gala producer. She holds a theatre and french degree from The University of Michigan. Natalie is thrilled to be back for her third year with BDC and CTP!
Michaela McGowan - Ballet/Jazz
Michaela McGowan began her dance training at the age of five in Northern Virginia, calling the Loudoun School of Ballet her home away from home. Focusing only on ballet training until age 14, she didn’t consider a professional dance career until jazz and contemporary became part of her dance vocabulary just before high school (thanks to the encouragement of her parents). Michaela spent her summers studying at Boston Ballet and, Point Park University. She was an apprentice with Loudoun Ballet Company under the direction of Maureen Miller, performing such roles as Dewdrop, Arabian Soloist, and Snowflake (Nutcracker) and Odile (Swan Lake).
Michaela attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for dance, where she graduated with honors in May of 2012. While there, she performed works by resident faculty members Cherylyn Lavagnino and Pamela Pietro and guest choreographer Aszure Barton. She also had the pleasure of performing in the 2010 Tisch Gala as a featured dancer.
Outside of Tisch, Michaela has also worked with and performed works by Calen Kurka, BT (Brian Thomas) and Cara Goodwin, and performed in the :pushing progress Showcase Series and Jazz Choreography Enterprises, Inc.'s Choreography Showcase. Most recently, she danced with Beyond Lines Contemporary Dance Company (Cara Goodwin, Artistic Director) in "Behind Painted Lines," an evening-length performance benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project, participated in the CURRENT SESSIONS performing work by Carol Mendes and performed with Noesis/ Kinetics under the direction of Calen Kurka at the Capezio A.C.E. Awards.
Jerica Niehoff - Jazz
Jerica began her training in Denver, Colorado studying Ballet, Modern, Jazz/Lyrical & Tap. At the age of 12 she moved to the east coast and has trained at Broadway Dance Center ever since. She has also attended Alabama Ballet's summer program, American Ballet Theatre's summer program, and Alvin Ailey's summer program 2 years in a row. Jerica, has also had numerous performance opportunities. She has been a company member of Stacie Webster's jazz company "Handcart Dance Company", she's danced for Sheila Barker in Savion Glover's production "Invitations To A Dancer", she's been in several pieces shown around the city choreographed by Valerie Salgado, she's danced in the 2011 Choreographer's Canvas with choreography by Michelle Barber, & most recently has been a company member for Beyond Lines Directed by Cara Goodwin. This is Jerica's 6th year working for the Children Teen Program. Jerica can also be seen from time to time teaching open classes at Broadway Dance Center
Alycia Perrin - Latin Jazz
Born in New York of Cuban and Jamaican descent, Alycia Perin possesses a strong ballet foundation which began with with Egelvsky Ballet on Long Island. She then studied at the Martha Graham Conservatory later moved on to Dance Theater of Harlem. After graduating with a BFA in Dance, she went on to perform with dance companies such as Philadanco and Forces of Nature. Alycia has worked with choreographers such as George Faison, Milton Myers, Hinton Battle, Adel Salaamm, Tina Landon, and Jordi Cabellero to name a few.
Sheila Pomroy - Tap, Ballet
Sheila Pomroy holds an Associate with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She has over ten years experience teaching pre-dance and creative movement to young children as well as Tap, Ballet and Jazz to teens and adults. She has performed professionally throughout the United States, Canada and Ireland and regularly performs with the Niall O'Leary Dance Troupe and other Tap companies in the tri-state area. Television credits include Univision, Fox and ABC. She is very excited to share her experience and passion with the children at Broadway Dance Center.
Claudia Rahardjanoto - Tap
Claudia Rahardjanoto was born and raised in Berlin/Germany, where she was trained in ballet, jazz and tap. She soon chose tap as her main focus and has then extensively studied tap with Sam Weber, Andreas Daenel, Sven Goettlicher and Pascal Hulin. Claudia danced in numerous tap-shows in Europe (Germany, Austria, Sweden, Belgium, Holland) and has been on tour with several touring productions in Europe and in the United States ("Magic Of The Dance," "Dancing Feet," "Dancing On Common Ground"). She appeared on the "Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon" with Andrew Nemr's CPD Plus. Claudia also appeared on MTV's 'TRL' as part of a "Happy Feet" segment with Robin Williams and Elijah Wood. Morgan Rose - Triple Threat
Morgan Rose is a New York based dancer, singer, actor, and now faculty member at Broadway Dance Center. She is a graduate of Florida State University’s BFA Music Theatre program and a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association. Her favorite performance credits include Shrek the Musical (1st National Tour), Dear Edwina (Original Off Broadway Cast), A Chorus Line (Maine State Music Theatre), George M! (Theatre by the Sea), and Funny Girl (Westchester Broadway). Most recently, Morgan served as Al Blackstone’s Associate Choreographer for his original dance narrative, Happy We’ll Be at Roseland Ballroom. She is also the Assistant Choreographer for select MTI Broadway Junior Collection Choreography DVDs. Morgan is extremely grateful to join the BDC Children and Teen Program faculty. Her work is inspired by her parents and dedicated to the memory of her brother, Dustin.
Yvonne-Marie Sain - Hip-Hop
Yvonne-Marie Sain grew up in New York City and began training at a young age at Dance Theater of Harlem and the School at Steps. Yvonne studied Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop and Modern dance at the Northfield Mount Hermon School and then went on to achieve a B.A. in Dance from Cornell University. Since graduation Yvonne has had the opportunity to work with such choreographers as Jared Grimes, Sheryl Murakami, Rhapsody James and Luis Salgado.Yvonne has been teaching for more than 8 years, with students of all ages and ability levels. Her goal as a teacher is to give students a thorough education while nurturing and inspiring their creativity, discipline and self-confidence.
Jamie Salmon - Ballet
Jamie Salmon received her professional ballet training as a youth with Dana Kennedy, Melissa Hayden and Paul Meija. She attended the North Carolina School of the Arts for Jr. high and high school. Further training was received at the school of American Ballet and the Joffrey Ballet school, where she became a member of the Joffrey Concert Group performing lead roles in classics and new works.Jamie has also worked with Kirk Peterson and Louis Falco as well as dancing in commercials, TV, film, and print work. Doug Shankman - Tap
Doug Shankman is delighted to be returning to Broadway Dance Center's Children and Teen Program. As a tap dancer, Doug has performed with Gregory Hines, Maurice Hines, DanceEllington, and as a soloist for BaleTap USA. He has performed in the National Tours of 42nd Street, My One and Only, Singin' in the Rain , On Your Toes, A Chorus Line and West Side Story. Currently, Doug is Choreographing and Directing for the Theater throughout the nation and recent credits include: Peter Pan, Camelot, The Full Monty, Little Shop of Horrors, Thirteen, Pippin, Once On This Island, King and I, Big River, Music Man, Camp Rock and Frog and Toad. Additionally, Doug is the Artistic Director of Contemporary Dance Arts, which is dedicated to creating new works for theater, film and Television. Critically acclaimed productions include: Primal Vision, ZenDance, Nostalgia, Musical Millennium, Our Time and Atlan.
Shauna Sorensen - Jazz
Shauna Sorensen earned her BFA in Dance Performance from The University at Buffalo. She is currently a member of In-Sight Dance Company under the direction of Leeanne M. G-Bowley. In addition to In-Sight she trains closely with Ginger Cox and was a member of her company, LiNK The Movement. With In-Sight and LiNK she has had the opportunity to perform at: SoNo Arts Festival, New Yorks 60x60 Dance, Elian Summer Dance Awards, Jazz Dance Choreography Enterprises, and The National Museum of Dance. A few other credits include Carnival with Synthesis Dance Project, Tangle: A Site Specific Dance, Music, and Art Show, and back up dancer for LIVID Rock Band and singer Barry Brandon. J Lyn Thomas - Hip Hop
J Lyn began her exploration in the arts at the age of two. While obtaining her Bachelor's of the Arts in Dance at the University of Colorado at Boulder, J Lyn trained at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance School, and choreographed for local companies and recorded artists. In 2007, she established her own all-female dance company DRAMA that was a sensation throughout the state.She moved to New York in the spring of 2008 and signed with MSA Talent Agency. Since signing, she has worked with famous choreographers such as Geo Hubela (winner of America’s Best Dance Crew), Sheryl Murikami (Beyonce’s choreographer), and Frank Gatson (Beyonce’s producer); trained in West African dance under FELA!’s Ishmael Kouyate; back-up danced for LL Cool J, Lil Jon, Chris Willis, Jim Jones, and Juelz Santana; danced in music videos for recorded artists such as Cee-Lo Green; choreographed for Kevin Lyttle, Spragga Benz, Jeremy Carr, and FARRAD; danced on national television shows such as CBS, Comcast, BET, MTV, and CNN; danced in movies like Step Up 3D; danced in television commercials for Hip Hop Abs and Lucille Roberts Gym; can be seen in print advertisements for products like Coors Light; and has opened up for Sean Paul, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Fabolous, the Backstreet Boys, and Pitbull.
When not performing or choreographing, J Lyn is a dance instructor of over 13 years at dance studios, conventions, non-profit organizations, after school programs, charter schools, public schools and abroad. Her passion lies in empowering youth through the performing art of dance.
Andrea Torres - Tap
Andrea Torres was born in McAllen, Texas and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in American Dance Pedagogy with a Minor in Business Entrepreneurship from Oklahoma City University. Her latest choreographic works have been featured on many stages in New York City including the Highline Ballroom, Symphony Space, the Grand Hyatt Hotel and Sheraton Hotel for the Pulse on Tour faculty, the IZOD Center, the Connelly Theater, the Kaye Playhouse and at Broadway Dance Center.
Andrea's latest performances include tap dancing on The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, Dancing in The Shine On awards show at Radio City Music Hall hosted by Meryl Streep, The A.C.E. Awards, and as a featured tap dancer for the Step Up 3D promotional music video. Andrea Torres has performed with Bessie Award Winner and tap mentor, Michelle Dorrance, in her Shared Evening Event with Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, and performed works with the Co- creator and assistant producer of Imagine Tap, Mr. Aaron Tolson. Andrea has trained with many of the Tap legends and greats such as Dr. Jimmy Slyde, Dr. Henry LeTang, Dr. Harold Chromer, Barbara Duffy, Lynn Schwab, and Germaine Salsberg to name a few. Andrea grew up training under Melba Huber, the national tap dance historian, since the age of 3.
Andrea would also like to thank her family for believing in her dreams and being the greatest support system. Not only has dance been Andrea’s passion and her way to express herself fully, but it’s also been a way to express to her family how much their support has meant to her. Without her family none of these dreams would have been achieved. She is excited to be joining the Children and Teen program faculty this year!

Stacie Webster - Jazz, Jumps & Turns, AIM Company Coordinator
Stacie Webster, a native of Southern Utah, attended Southern Utah University where she earned a degree in Dance Performance, and was awarded the San Christopher Scholarship. She has performed with Repertory Dance Theatre, Brigham Young University’s Theatre Ballet, was invited to perform in the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. Stacie is currently the Artistic Director of Handcart Dance Company in NYC which had its company premiere in September 2008 at Webster Hall NYC. Additionally, she is attending the Academy of Massage Therapy where she will obtain her clinical massage license in 2009. Stacie has pursued her love of choreography and teaching at various studios and schools, and is very excited to return as a member of Broadway Dance Center’s CTP faculty.
